Mirrors Edge 2D

Today I bring you Mirrors Edge 2D, A remake of the original 3d game by EA.
Going into testing I thought it was a sure bet there wouldn't be much to this game, I had the preconception it would be just another quick throw together web game by a company trying to promote their "real game". To some extent this was true, but after extensive testing I feel it manages to play as a stand alone game with enough content and challenges to make it fun and interesting.

Starting out the game there are three modes
  1. Play - which is the story mode "with no story" :P
  2. Time Trial - where you work towards unlocks and fastest laps
  3. Baddie Rush - You race against the clock collecting as much evidence as you can
All three modes are enjoyable to a point. Story mode is fun as there are no time limits, so you can take your time mastering your moves. However it dose start to become a little frustrating trying to find your way around complex maps with little direction to guide you, This in my opinion needs work.
Time trial and Baddie Rush had pretty much the same feel to me, only difference being one has lifeless guards shooting at you and the other doesn't.

Thinking about it now maybe its my love for side scrollers that makes me want to give this game a good review, in reality it's missing a few things... the controls can be fiddly at times, there are no dive rolls or rolls of any kind, but the most important thing to any game has been left out and that is an actual story for you to immerse yourself into.

Thats why before you play this game ask yourself, do you want to loose an hour or three of your life for little return.
